The Fondazione Terzo Pilastro - Internazionale – along with Poema S.p.A., in collaboration with the Auditorium Conciliazione in Rome, and chaired by the President of the Fondazione, Professor Emmanuele F. M. Emanuele – presents a grand exhibition dedicated to the extraordinary period of art in Milan between the 1960s and 1970s. A time of splendid fervor that gave rise to an actual revolution of visions and expressive forms in which art was radically transformed into its theoretical structure and its physical nature. Over thirty works by the most important protagonists of Milanese art from those years will be exhibited. Art that is interpreted in its complexity and in its different trends and variations. The exhibition will be divided into four sections, in an precise and rigorous overview that will highlight the coexistence, divergences, combinations, and commonalities of glimpses from a great and happy era of creativity. The first section, ARTE, MATERIA E SPAZIO VERSO LO ZERO (ART, MATTER AND SPACE TOWARDS ZERO), will display the works of Vincenzo Agnetti, Getulio Alviani, Rodolfo Aricò, Agostino Bonalumi, Enrico Castellani, Lucio Fontana, Paolo Scheggi, and Michele Zaza. The second section, NOUVEAU RÉALISME TRA ITALIA E FRANCIA (NOUVEAU RÉALISME, BETWEEN ITALY AND FRANCE), will include works by Arman, Piero Manzoni, Mimmo Rotella, and Daniel Spoerri. In the third section, NUCLEARISMO E ASTRAZIONI (NUCLEARISM AND ABSTRACTIONS), art by Roberto Crippa, Sergio Dangelo, Gianni Dova, and Emilio Scanavino will be exhibited. Lastly, the fourth section, NEI MONDI DELLA NUOVA COMUNICAZIONE (IN THE WORLDS OF NEW COMMUNICATION), will include Valerio Adami, Enrico Baj, Lucio del Pezzo, Bruno Di Bello, Ugo Nespolo, Fabrizio Plessi, Sergio Sarri, and Emilio Tadini. The exhibition will then retrace the most innovative stages of the avant-garde in Milan between the 60s and 70s, starting from the experiences of an openness towards a new space and new territories, of an abstraction that opens up to the environment and to the space of life, in order to frequently move beyond painting and sculpture in the traditional sense. In a vision that often uses new materials of contemporary reality or cancels them in a mental dimension that culminates in new conceptual outcomes. Aniconic experiences, dialogue with science, architecture and design, objective borrowing from the new industrial world, dialogues and dialectics with mass media and with new paradigmatic reminders of the collective universe, of popular cultures will, therefore, give life to a fascinating mosaic full of ideas and new possibilities for reflection. A catalogue of the exhibition will be published by Gangemi publisher, with texts by Prof. Emmanuele Emanuele, Enrico Lombardi, Lorenzo Canova, Alberto Dambruoso, and Guglielmo Gigliotti.
