During 2020 -2021 Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Internazionale intended to give a tangible and immediate solution to meet the basic needs of Italian families who have been hit by the economic crisis generated by the lengthy lockdown due to COVID-19: Therefore, Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Internazionale allocated €800.000 to eleven cities in Southern Italy (located in Sicily, Calabria and Campania) and the Republic of Malta in the first year and €1.100.000 in the second year to (adding the beneficiaries in the city Todi in Umbria) to be distributed in food vouchers to the most vulnerable groups of society.
Fondazione Terzo Pilastro, on the strength of its experience in solidarity at an international level intends to refocus its solidary action on the benefit for families in difficulty in order to ensure meals and basic household provisions - in pursuit of its mission to aid the vulnerable social groups – has allocated 100.000 euro each to Naples, Cosenza, Catanzaro, Reggio Calabria, Palermo, Trapani, Enna, Agrigento, Catania, Syracuse and Messina as well as Todi (and abroad to Malta) to purchase food vouchers worth € 30 each to be distributed to families through local organisations.
The contributions were disbursed according to the instructions established in protocols signed directly with the municipalities and the mayors involved, in order to distribute the sums of money for the food vouchers through the procedures initiated by the individual local authorities that ensure the highest level of transparency and traceability of expenditure as well as locating the needy families, paying particular attention to the inclusivity factor.
